Recently, the chat server has died, and the future of the chat is up in arms. This led myself, and other denziens of the now imperiled TownHall chat to seek a new place to meet and discuss politics.

This my friends has been an education. We've all heard of the CINO, the RINO the proverbial wolves in sheep's clothing. What hasn't gotten enough ink is the pseudo-conservative. The vitriol loving graduate of the Beavis and Butthead School of Conservatism. The B&B grad has no philosophical underpinnings to base his/her conservative beliefs upon. Rather, the B&B grad relies on the level of belicosity as a barometer of conservative purity.

Whereas genuine discussion using quirky techniques like posting facts and figures is normally accepted as an expositional method of supporting an ideology, it's lost completely on the B&B grad. Rather, the B&B grad finds conservatism in such phrases as "Liberals suck", and oft reply, "Yeah, heh, heh, they suck, heh, heh."

If there is a threat to conservatism, it's not from the left, but from faddish idiots with no true idoelogical underpinnings, but plenty of Beavis and Butthead.

Everything I need to know about Islam I learned on 911

I saw a t-shirt in the mall yesterday that really caught my eye. It said, "Everything I need to know about Islam, I learned on 911". I'm sure Robert Fulghum, would absolutely not approve of the t-shirt.

I really like Robert Fulghum. From his writings, I've gleaned that he's an incredibly nice person, and all around great guy. His compassion is obvious to the causal reader, as well as is unwillingness to judge others. These are qualities that I greatly admire. Qualities that I think deep down, I've always wished that I myself possessed in greater abundance. That's how I know Robert would hate I'm going to write in the following paragraphs.

I did learn everything I need to know about Islam, on 911.

I learned that Islamic extremists are willing to cut the throats of stewardess in front of passengers.

I learned that Islamic extremists are willing to fly planes full of crying passengers into buildings.

I learned that Muslims, run of the mill Muslims, around the world weren't there to condemn the extremists. Instead they danced and wagged their tongues at our loss.

Since then, not a lot has changed, except Islam has shown it's colors time and time again. Car bombs in Israel. A subway explosion in Spain. Children raped, tortured and killed in a Russian school. At the heart of it all, Islamic extremists.

I would like to think that Islamic extremists are the exception and not the rule, but the more evidence that builds, the more I realize that the extremists at the minimum, enjoy the silent support of the moderate majority.

I would love to be Robert Fulghum. I desperately want the cheery optimism, the slow fused unwillingness to judge. I want desperately to believe that every day Muslims aren't the fiends that are behind this atrocities, but every Muslims aren't showing me that they're truly against them.

Build it and they will come

How many don't shops are there in your city? I grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and then moved to Deep East Texas. Colorado Springs had a few donut shops spread throughout the city. East Texas had fewer, but it was mostly rural so it made sense.

I've since moved to Dallas, and it's amazing. You can't drive 3 blocks in Dallas without seeing "Donuts" in bright neon. There are stand alone donut shops, mom and pop donut shops, large chain donut shops, donut stands in other stores that donut shops keep stocked. It's surreal. Dallas is truly donut land.

I have a pet theory. I think that sometime during the 80's possibly the early 90's, crime swept through the Dallas metroplex like Hitler through Poland. Despite a public relations campaign, and an ill concieved gum for guns swap campaign, crime remained a problem.

Now, friends and family that I have who are police officers tell me that metroplex departments are some of the lowest paying departments in the region, and the city councils, city managers, and assorted mayors intend to keep it that way.

That's why the cabal was formed back in the early 90's or possibly late 80's. "Build it and they will come" wasn't coined by a Hollywood screenwriter. It was STOLEN from secret cabal documents.

The plan was nefarious, and underhanded. Rather than attract the needed police with monetary incentives, health insurance, and retirement plans. The metroplex cabal conspired to attract donut vendors to attract police, with secret tax breaks, and hidden subsidies. I've noticed that some of these donut shops are only open until 1pm. Why? The answer simple, the secret cabal subsidies are so lucrative that the greedy donut pimps can afford to only be open half a day.

So, now if you come to the DFW Metroplex, you'll know why there are so many donut shops.

Bandaids and purple hearts

I watched with dismay the closeups of delegates to the Republican National Convention tonight on the television. As a Texan, I've always supported George Bush. W was the man, and for the most part, he's delivered.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the GOP. While I may admire the party of George W. Bush, I see around me the party of Ann Coulter. Mean spirited jabs seem to rule the day, and I for one am saddened.

First day

Well, it's official now.
